Poemar, Oct. 5, 2006, On PalTalk

Welcome Everyone with my first poem after an intensive poetry workshop online, with Poemar.com, that lasted one month and concluded with a birthday for which the best birthday present anyone could have ever given me was realized when Poemar taught me how to write a poem in Portuguese!! Here goes my first poem ever which I also dedicate to beautiful students photographed below! ¡Buenas tardes a todos!

Mi nombre es Blanca A. Soy Mexicana. Estoy muy contenta por que estoy en el colegio para tener una mejor educación.

En la clase del Prof. R. Green estamos aprendiendo sobre las diferentes culturas. Pero lo más importante de esta clase
es el saber escuchar el sonido de la voz y la pronunciación de las palabras. Nosotros hemos estado en el internet y hemos aprendido que el Fado simboliza el Portugal aunque no es la canción nacional y que hoy en día es interpretado en diferentes países y que también hay muchas maneras
de interpretarlo. Nostros no hablamos Portugués pero el simple hecho de escuchar la música o el sonido de la voz te das cuenta que es romántico, triste, o alegre.

Con todo esto nos da mas entendimientos de que allá afuera hay muchas personas que Siente y expresan y dan lo mejor como seres humanos y que esta es la mejor maner de enseñarle al mundo cual importante son tus raíces y tu cultura que si tu tienes un pasado muy bello también puedes tener un gran futuro. Con todo estoy muy agradecida
de compartir este momento con ustedes.

My name is Ana Maleny Santana. My friends call me, "Maleny." I come from Puerto Rico 11 years to go. I live in Brooklyn, New York. I love it here. Iove to speak Spanish and English. I do hair. I love to do it to make people look beautiful. But now I want to do something different to better myself. Now I go to college to better myself and I loved it. I learn to listen and how to speak to have a better communication. My professor is Mr. Richard Green. He is a good teacher. He is kind. In now we learn about other country and culture about the fado. Me encanta hacer pelo y hacer a la gente lucir Bien pero ahora quiero hacer algo diferente y mejor para mi. Ahora voy al colegio para mejorarme a mi misma y me encanta. Aprendo a Escuchar a hablar mejor y aprendo a tener comunicacion. Mi maestro es Richard Green. El es tremenda persona y muy buen profesol. Ahora estamos apendiendo the otros estados y otras culturas y Del Fado es una bonita musica y Relajada. Tambien de Amelia Rodrigues la musica esta tremenda. Teve lugar no passado dia 5 de Outubro, um evento de intercâmbio cultural tendo como base de sustentanção a harmonia e partilha do ser humano, na presença da LIVE Apresentações através da Internet.

O Prof. Richard Green lecciona a disciplina de "Discurso Básico de Counicação" em ingles como segundo idioma estrangeiro, no Touro College de Nova Iorque - Curso de Carreiras e Estudos Aplicados (NYSCAS) e foi ele o mentor da apresentação.

Esta apresentação foi aberta com a intervenção do Prof. R. Green, alertando os alunos de topo da sua classe, sendo eles oriundos do Mexico, Porto Rico e Haiti.

Foi tocada música tradicional Portuguesa, declamados poemas em português e de autores Espanhois. O principal objectivo é como captar através da escuta a principal habilidade da fronteira cultural, explicou o Prof. R. Green.

Quando todo o Mundo interiorizar esta mensagem, poderão acreditar que falar e escrever, será uma mais valia, acreditando que comunicar deste modo, é agora mais do que nunca o melhor modo de improvisar o modo de falar, escrever e ouvir. Cross-Cultural Live Internet Exchange Organized by New York School of Career
and Applied Studies (NYSCAS)

A cross-cultural exchange focusing on the theme “harmony with humankind”
took place with live audio presentations over the Internet on October 5.
Professor Richard Green, who teaches basic speech/English as a second
foreign language at Touro’s New York School of Career and Applied Studies
(NYSCAS), organized the presentation, which began with opening remarks by
Prof. Green followed by comments delivered by top students in his class who
hail from Mexico, Puerto Rico and Haiti. Traditional Portuguese music,
“Fado,” was sung live from Portugal and poetry of Portuguese and other
Spanish authors was read. “The principal aim …[was] to cultivate listening
skills across cultural boundaries,” explained Prof. Green. “When the whole
world is listening in on what you have to say and write, you'd better
believe that communication skills will indeed be improved in speaking,
writing and in listening.” Prof. Green set up a Web site for anyone

El 12 de Octobre/Outubro se celebró el día de la patrona de Nuestra Señora del Pilar (Spanish for "Our Lady of the Pillar"). Visiten Nuestra Señora del Pilar Basílica in Zaragoza, Spain, (by the river Ebro, By Clicking Here).

"Nuestra Señora del Pilar (Spanish for "Our Lady of the Pillar") the name given to Virgin Mary for her appearance in Spain, whose shrine (Nuestra Señora del Pilar Basilica) is in Zaragoza, Spain, by the river Ebro.

According to legend, in the early days of the Church, the Apostle James the Greater was evangelizing the Gospel in Caesaraugusta, but making little progress when miraculously he saw Mary on a pillar committing him to Jerusalem. In it, she was atop a column or pillar, which was being carried by angels. That pillar is believed to be the same one venerated in Zaragoza, Spain today. Miraculous healings have been reported at the scene.

"In Zamboanga City, The Philippines, the Virgin of the Pillar has been venerated for almost five centuries. Her statue is embossed at the top of the facade of the 16th century Spanish military fort called El Fuerza Real de Nuestra Señora Virgen del Pilar de Zaragoza. The military fort is now a Catholic Marian Shrine. The city also has a street named after her - Pilar Street.

Our Lady of the Pillar is celebrated on 12 October and is the patron virgin of Spain, Hispanics, the hispanicized City of Zamboanga in The Philippines, and the Civil Guard of Spain.

María del Pilar is a common female Spanish name.

There is also an Argentine city, Pilar.
